Imagine:
This 18x24 inch watercolor painting is based on an old photo of a Kenyan child alone in a churchyard that I found in my parents old photos. The girl in that photo captivated me, and I expect to use her image and persona in future pieces. In this painting she is watching a low hanging Jacaranda branch with wonder and imagining the goose-necked blossoms taking flight and transforming into birds.
Church Mural
Via Dolorosa:
This 16x20 inch watercolor painting is the culmination of a chalk mural project I did at Threshold church for the Lenten season of 2025, depicting Christ’s journey to the cross, down the famed Via Dolorosa. I used old phots from the 1920’s to construct and older version of the passage through Jerusalem that Jesus walked carrying his Cross. I used a watercolor pouring technique to create the visual effect you see here.
